The Colonial British Indian Cuisine meets with the Hon. Barry O’Farrell and SBS Radio Producer Kumud

The nominations are in and The Colonial British Indian Cuisine, hosting two of Sydney’s urban-popular British Indian restaurants are finalists for the 2019 IABCA Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Awards being held later this year by none other than Sonia Gandhi, Director of Gandhi Creations – the organiser and host of the IABCA.

The ceremony has commenced with a finalist’s pre-awards networking night hosting the 2019 finalists across various award categories. Amongst many others, The Hon. Barry O’Farrell and Kumud Merani join us for this special evening.

The Honourable Barry O’Farrell (former premiere NSW) was an absolute pleasure to meet and gave an inspiring speech on the relationship between Australia and India, following of which Dolly Kaur, owner of The Colonial British Indian Cuisine restaurant group in Sydney skipped the queue for photos and drinks.

Barry Robert O'Farrell is best known as the former Australian politician; Premier of New South Wales and Minister for Western Sydney from 2011 to 2014. He was the Leader of the New South Wales Liberal Party from 2007 to 2014 and was a Member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, representing Northcott and representing Ku-ring-gai on the Upper North Shore of Sydney.

Kumud Merani is the award-winning Executive Producer of the SBS Hindi Radio Program. Kumud built her media career on firsts as India’s first female TV anchor, and then upon migrating to Australia, SBS Worlds News’ first female anchor of an Asian background.

Kumud is an Australia Day ambassador and devotes her time to community work, in particularly the maintenance of Indian art and culture in Australia. She has produced, directed and acted in several Indian theatre productions in Sydney.

Sonia Gandhi, a multi-lingual serial entrepreneur and a champion of cultural diversity is best known as a result driven event director with over a decade of experience in strategic marketing, public relations and end to end event management in the community, government and corporate sectors across the Asia-Pacific region.

Sonia has executed over 500 events throughout her career and under the above banner, she regularly initiates and executes corporate, community and government projects with accompanying marketing strategies from concept to delivery. Her work directly promotes a more diverse Australia by engaging with multicultural communities. On a broader level, she has produced events that have served as meeting grounds for the exchange of ideas between nations and platforms for enhanced cultural diplomacy and improved foreign investment and trade.

The Colonial British Indian Cuisine restaurant group in Sydney is a first-year finalist with IABCA and have secured a finalist position in the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality awards category.
